Day 4: Adventures in the sand

Here is a quick post before the training starts!

Day 4 (Saturday 25th June 2011)
Day 4 was all about sand! And unlike Day 3’s stars post, I am talking about physical sand here. We started off with a good breakfast with the lovely E family, and then all met up at the G’s for some enjoyment and prayer before heading out for the day’s activities. First on the list… quad-biking on sand dunes near Palm Springs! Now get this – almost all the sisters were up for it, whereas most of the brothers preferred to go straight to the outlet mall! Cue amused roll of the eyes ;)

We had a good time on the quad-bikes, although it did get rather hot out there in the desert! And I’m such a wuss when it comes to driving, so imagine roaming around on uneven sandy surfaces at (for me) high speed! Overall I ‘drove’ safely, made it up to the middle sand dunes, and was considerably stuck only once. It was an experience, anyway!

We joined everyone else at the outlet mall after that, for a short but productive shop around. And then it was onward to Huntington Beach for a BBQ on the beach! We were supposed to have a bonfire, but the saints were unable to find an open bonfire pit. We played baseball/softball/rounders (take your pick as to what it actually was) on the sand, with everyone being happy with a draw as the end result :) That’s the church-life! We had a lot of fun, and I feel like it was the most I have ever exerted myself in a physical sport. But I ached for a day or so afterwards!
