Day 9: A fresh start, every day

July 22nd, 2011 Categories: blending... 4 comments

Throughout the entire blending trip I enjoyed having my time with the Lord each morning. The Lord was always so fresh and available, ready to energise and supply me for the whole day. Sometimes we go away on a ‘holiday’ and come back feeling like we need another one! But after this blending trip (and the summer training), I came back feeling so rested and refreshed, and I really think it was because of all the normal days, simply touching the Lord!

It is Jehovah’s lovingkindness that we are not consumed,
For His compassions do not fail;
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

Day 9 (Thursday 30th June 2011)
It was no different on Day 9 in San Francisco, where I was able to get up early enough to take a shower, spend some time with the Lord, and even touch base with the saints I serve with in London. I actually had to do some work remotely at this point, but thank You Lord for computers, phones (and particularly T’s phone), free wifi at Starbucks and Mc Donald’s, and the patient saints who allowed me the few minutes I needed to connect!

And then, it was time to hit the road again. The brothers picked us up, and then we headed off to Berkeley to join the rest of the group. The vans were loaded up, and we were off! Destination: Unknown!

Well, not quite unknown – I’m sure our drivers knew exactly where we were going. The rest of us just knew that we were heading back down towards southern California, and towards the Magic Mountain theme park. I’m sure we must have stopped for lunch somewhere, but as to where we stopped, my memory has already failed me. Maybe this was near the fruit farm place, but then again, maybe not! En route we stopped for a bathroom break in Coalinga, and I must recommend their bathrooms – the most amazing roadside bathrooms I have ever been to! And at some point we also stopped at a truck stop, where we took a group picture in front of a wide, yellow field (see below for the “after” shots!).

And then more driving, driving, driving, until we reached… Santa Clarita, and our hotel! I had expected that we would stay in a basic motel, much like last year in Flagstaff when we visited the Grand Canyon. But it seems the contribution we made for the blending trip this year afforded us more luxurious accommodation: free cookies at reception, a swimming pool and Jacuzzi, and a decent breakfast in the morning. And this year, the distribution of sisters meant we were mostly three to a room instead of four to a room. Nice :)

So we worked out a good schedule for the use of swimming pool. The brothers swam first while the sisters went to the nearby mall to shop and eat dinner. Then we came back and had our turn at the pool and in the Jacuzzi until it closed. Very nice :) It was also sweet to be ‘reunited’ with the sisters again, having been travelling in different vans for the past few days. I enjoyed singing and calling on the Lord with the sisters with a strong and exercised spirit. Oh Lord Jesus!

And then, time for various ones to shower, do laundry, check email, and rest before Day 10’s activities… coming up in the next post. But before that, here are a few pictures from the day, although not as exciting as on Day 8. Sorry I didn’t take a picture of the pool, but it did look lovely, all lit up at night. I think by this point I was getting slightly pictured-out – don’t expect too many in the next few posts!

    Thank You, LJ, for enabling us to have a new & fresh start every day. You’re merciful & I love You. You’re so faithful even when we’re unfaithful. Your mercies & loving kindness chase after us. We just need to abide in You to enjoy all Your riches. no sweat! Thank You Lord.
