Day 11: These are they
Day 11 (Saturday 2nd July 2011)
Day 11 was a big day for 105 saints – it was the Full-Time Training in Anaheim graduation! Praise the Lord! I really enjoyed their presentation of following the Lamb. Who is this Lamb? The Lamb is our Lord Jesus Christ, the one who accomplished redemption for us, and who is now both enthroned in the heavens and also in our spirit!
These are they who have not been defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb wherever He may go. These were purchased from among men as firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.
These 105 brothers and sisters followed the Lamb to the FTTA, and now after two years of training in Bible Truth and Church Service, some will continue to the third year in Boston, others will begin to serve the Lord with their full time, some will return to further education, and others will pick up a job. In each case, may the Lord be the One leading and guiding them as they learn to follow Him wherever He may go!
In recent years, I have been going to the graduation thinking that I would not know who the graduates were, and yet every year I find that I do know some, either from previous blending trips and trainings, or because they visited Europe. It is so encouraging to see them now, continuing to love and pursue the Lord. During the Summer Training, I had a very sweet time sharing a room with one such graduating sister who I first met on the first blending trip a few years ago, when she was new to the church. And now she has graduated, praise the Lord!
After the graduation, we headed off to the B’s in Irvine for lunch, and then some went shopping and others went swimming. I was in the latter group, and we had a lot of fun playing games with E at the neighbourhood pool. I certainly felt like we had the opportunity for plenty of exercise during this blending trip: quad-biking, baseball, tennis, hiking, cycling, swimming, and calling on the Lord!
Later in the afternoon, we had our traditional (meaning we have done the same thing for the past few years) BBQ in the park with the Christian Students at UCI, and were also joined by families living nearby, such as the F’s (see picture below!). And keeping with the tradition, we wasted no time in breaking out Taboo again – go team B! (Or was it team A?)
After that, RH and I headed back to the sisters’ house we were staying in, and hung out with the sisters there – not doing very much but just being together (and answering general questions about life in the UK!). Believe it or not, that simple time at home with the sisters was probably one of my favourite moments of the blending trip… and here’s why:
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brothers to dwell in unity!
