Verses Sheets for Winter Training 2013: Genesis (2)

January 10th, 2014 Categories: eating..., enjoying... 2 comments

Tonight is the start of the winter video training in London, and as in previous years I am preparing verse sheets to go along with the training outlines. I find these useful to quickly look up the verses as the brothers are speaking the messages, and to get into the verse references during the study times. I hope you find them useful too, and am making them available here for those who do.

These verse sheets are for the Crystallization-study of Genesis (2), and I will update this post as I go along. As a little note, in order to conserve space I tend not to quote whole chapters that are referenced, so you will need to look those ones up. Oh, and if you spot any mistakes, please let me know so I can correct them. Thanks!

Verses Sheets for Winter Training 2012: Daniel and Zechariah

Last winter I made verse sheets for the Winter Training 2011: Psalms (2) to help in my study for the video training. These verse sheets seemed to be very helpful for others also, and so I am sharing the verse sheets I’m making for the Crystallization-study of Daniel and Zechariah and will be posting them here as I go along. We start our video training here in London tonight :)

All verses are taken from the Holy Bible Recovery Version.

Day 3: A Taste of Louisiana

I wrote this at the end of my time in the USA this summer (although some students continued on to the College Training), on my way home. It was a wonderful time, and the Summer Training was also so refreshing and supplying. Hopefully I still remember enough of the Blending Trip (and have enough time) to share it with you in the coming days.

Day 3 (Thursday 21 June 2012)
Hey Y’all and I woke on Day 3 and were cherished with a lovely breakfast prepared by our hosts. We had sausages and eggs and biscuits (the American kind) and sweet melon – yum. After that we heading to the church in Baton Rouge meeting hall to meet all the other saints. Sir Wattsalot had acquired a new football – a real football that is, i.e. soccer ball for those from those parts :) – and those who spoke or sung the verse for the day had the honour of signing it with their new southern names.

Our verses for the day were Colossians 3:16-17. Anyone still remember it? :)

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God.

And whatever you do in word or in deed, do all things in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Swamp Exploration

The first activity of the day was to head out to Jean Lafitte, a national historical park and reserve, a.k.a. a swamp! We were joined by some local saints, and had an enjoyable time reading and singing on the journey to the swamp.

When we arrived, a park ranger gave us the safety orientation. I learnt two lessons:

  • I should not dangle my feet or hands over the boardwalk…
…because they are the size of alligator prey (and gators are prone to latch on)
  • I should not wander off the trails…
…because someone did that and was lost for four days (but at least he was found)

Very important lessons indeed! We then watched a short video about the Mississippi River, the swamps, and the lifestyle in the area, and then we were on our own to explore the swamps ourselves.

Verses Sheets for Winter Training 2011: Psalms (2)

Here in London, we are now halfway through the video training for the Crystallization-study of Psalms (2), and thoroughly enjoying it!

To help my study of the messages, I have been producing verse sheets for all the outlines. It is so good to look up the verses that support the outline points and see it for yourself in the Word. And these are really helpful because they save lots of time, as there are lots of verses. (You’ll still need to use a Bible for footnotes!)

I have been emailing these verse sheets out to some saints I know who are doing the video training, but thought I would share them here too, in case anyone else may find them useful. These messages will be coming up again in the Holy Word for Morning Revival.

If you notice any mistakes (quite possible in the later messages, as I haven’t proof-read them by using them yet!) then drop me a line or comment below.

For your further reading, here is the blog of another sister who is sharing her enjoyment from the Winter Training: Crumbs & Bits – Reading and Writing God. And she posted all the study questions, in case anyone is keen to have those.

Rotten wood, and how to transform it

November 28th, 2011 Categories: eating..., reporting... 5 comments

Well somehow I ended up missing most of the meetings of the University Conference that took place last weekend, but I still very much enjoyed all the saints coming and especially having the sisters in my home.

I received a little overview of what was shared during our fellowship times in the evening, and I’ll be looking out for the mp3s of the messages so I can catch up! The encouraging stats and a few pictures are below, but first here is a little titbit that I did enjoy:

Our natural humanity is like rotten wood. A house built with rotten wood, even if it is overlaid with gold, will collapse.

Can you imagine how foolish it would be to build with rotten wood? That reminds me of the bookshop – and yes a post on that is coming! There is no way that any builder who is interested in the longevity of a property would build with rotten wood. That is just asking for trouble.
