I'm pondering…

“But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19

Let no one despise your age

This weekend I joined the memorial meeting for a dear brother who recently went to be with the Lord. I was very touched by all the testimonies of the saints. The speaking was very rich and full of the fragrance of a precious life poured on our lovely Lord Jesus, because He is altogether worthy.

This kind of special meeting leaves you with the encouragement and aspiration to follow our brother’s pattern to be simply and absolutely for the Lord and to care for the church, His Body.

…Forgetting the things which are behind and stretching forward to the things which are before, I pursue toward the goal for the prize to which God in Christ Jesus has called me upward.

It was for her

I really enjoyed the campus Bible studies this week! On Thursday, we read the footnote for John 19:34, and a few paragraphs from the first message from Life-study of Romans.

But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately there came out blood and water.

So, I had read this footnote before, and appreciated that the blood is for redemption, the purchasing of the church, and that the water is for imparting life, for the producing of the church. It’s pretty amazing to see that, to realise that it is not random or even just for biological reasons that both blood and water came out of the Jesus’ side, but that both are so significant. But in our fellowship at the Bible study, I saw in a fresh way that the blood was for the purchasing of the church, and that the water was for the producing of the church.

“In Everything”

When I was living with my roommate a few years ago, we used to remind each another often of this verse:

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

This verse tells us to be thankful to the Lord, not just for the good things, but for everything. So when we were living together, and something would happen, one of us would say, “Thank You Lord…” and the other would be reminded and reply, “…for everything.”

I’ve been feeling really thankful to the Lord recently. It’s not like something particular has happened, I’m just generally thankful. Maybe it is because I read this Bibles for America article about Thanksgiving. It just seemed to sink in a bit more for me this year, that it’s not just about the yummy food (I’ve tried it, it is delicious). But it really is about giving thanks to God.

It is wonderful to have this time of year to be reminded to thank the Lord. But it is even more wonderful to realise that this does not have to be limited to once a year, or even to once a week. Our thankfulness can be daily, even moment by moment. Oh thank You Lord. Lord, thank You.

We will be always with the Lord

I was very sad to receive the news today that my grandmother (Popo/Japo) passed away, early this morning. She lived a long and full life, and was always with her family who loved and cared for her, and whom she loved and cared for.

New day, new start

I wasn’t paying much attention to the new year. On the 31st December, I was in bed by 9.40pm and asleep by 10.30pm. :)

But in the Lord’s day meeting on 1st January, one brother’s shared something that was a little related to the new year. Actually he had mentioned this to us in the WST office during the previous week, but I am glad he respoke it!

Three revolutions

He pointed out that at this time every year, three revolutions take place:
