A Lovely Person (Dublin Conference)

August 30th, 2011 Categories: blending..., enjoying..., reporting... 4 comments

I returned recently from the International Blending Conference in Dublin. Thank You Lord for another wonderful opportunity to be with the saints in Ireland!

It really felt like a sweet family time – there were about 100 saints there, and every meal time we were all invited to eat together at the nearby (8 minutes walk) church in Dublin meeting hall. I had hospitality with a family where there are three young people and many more at home in their home, and was very cherished by my time with them. The young people were full of life and energy, keeping me young both physically and in my spirit!

Dublin Conference 2011

A number of saints back in London were able to watch the entire conference at the FTTL training centre via Skype, and on two occasions were able to share their enjoyment after the meetings with us in Dublin. On the Lord’s day it was a blending meeting in district 9, with a number of nearby churches, so there were probably another 100 saints who were with us virtually.

The conference was on The Revelation of Christ in God’s Economy as Presented in Psalm 2, and if you read on, I’ll share three points I enjoyed from the five messages of the conference…

Testimonies from the FTTL Autumn 2011 First-Term Trainees

August 22nd, 2011 Categories: reporting..., serving... 4 comments

The Full-Time Training in London (FTTL) restarted on Monday 8th August, and the trainees are now going into their third week of term. How time flies! (And here’s a cool post related to time: Infinity within Finite Beings).

It seems like I was only just telling you about the FTTL Spring 2011 graduation, yet that was a few months ago. On the same note, this evening I was emailing a friend from university, as well as chatting to a Christian sister on Gmail, and in both conversations I was reminded that it is now more than four years since my graduation from the Full-Time Training in London.

My term-mates and I graduating in 2007

That means I am now going into my fifth year of serving the Lord. Wow!

When I put it like that, it sounds so long, and yet… it really hasn’t felt like a long time, a suffering, or a drag. Instead it has been a real joy and delight, and a real learning and growing with the Lord. I love the Lord, and I love the church, and although I am very open for any change the Lord may bring, at this present moment in time, I am very happy in my service. Amen, more of You Lord, each day! :)

But now, let’s get back to this term!

A brief interlude to say…

The European Young People’s Camp in Poland begins today!

L and I flew out early to Warsaw, to join the saints in preparing for the camp registration, office, and other practical things. We had a sweet time with the saints both in Warsaw, and on our way down via Krakow to Male Ciche, where we are now. Hopefully I’ll write more about that some time next week!

The camp starts very soon, and some of the dear saints have already arrived, with the majority arriving throughout the day today. Please pray for the arrivals and registration – this is the first time we are going to try to check-in each person individually rather than in groups, and we’re talking 465 in the two main conferences, and approximately 100 more for the family camp! Lord, bring each one safely to the camp!

And also pray for the weather and all the saints – it is forecast to rain most of the week, which can be very inconvenient, but that’s no reason to stop enjoying the Lord!

I am helping with the registration today, and then will be with a cluster of young people in the camp during the week, which is on Crucial Aspects of God’s Economy Portrayed in Exodus (1).

Until next week.. praise the Lord!

Day 9: A fresh start, every day

July 22nd, 2011 Categories: blending... 2 comments

Throughout the entire blending trip I enjoyed having my time with the Lord each morning. The Lord was always so fresh and available, ready to energise and supply me for the whole day. Sometimes we go away on a ‘holiday’ and come back feeling like we need another one! But after this blending trip (and the summer training), I came back feeling so rested and refreshed, and I really think it was because of all the normal days, simply touching the Lord!

It is Jehovah’s lovingkindness that we are not consumed,
For His compassions do not fail;
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

Day 9 (Thursday 30th June 2011)
It was no different on Day 9 in San Francisco, where I was able to get up early enough to take a shower, spend some time with the Lord, and even touch base with the saints I serve with in London. I actually had to do some work remotely at this point, but thank You Lord for computers, phones (and particularly T’s phone), free wifi at Starbucks and Mc Donald’s, and the patient saints who allowed me the few minutes I needed to connect!

And then, it was time to hit the road again. The brothers picked us up, and then we headed off to Berkeley to join the rest of the group. The vans were loaded up, and we were off! Destination: Unknown!
