Well, things don’t get quiet around here in London. Last week we had the Winter School of Truth 2011, the eighth Winter School of Truth here in the UK.
As in the previous few years, there were two classes run simultaneously, one for school years 7-9 (age 11 to 14) on God’s Full Salvation, and the other for school years 10-13 (age 15-19) on The Two Spirits, the Divine Spirit and the Human Spirit.
This was a marvellous blending time, with a total of 212 young people and serving ones registered, from Belgium, Ethiopia, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK, and the USA. Did you count? That’s 15 ‘countries’ – actually both England and Scotland were represented, and you could even say Wales was too!
The impression I got was that everyone had a great time diving into the truth together!
Right now I’m at one of my busiest points in the year, and I am learning that I need to learn to depend… on the Lord, and on the Body!
Last Saturday was the second young adults fellowship in London. I really appreciated the time. One of the questions that came up in the Q&A was:
As young adults, how can we help to prepare ourselves to take responsibility in the church, so that we will be the most useful to the Lord in the future?
The more I consider this question, the more I am treasuring it. And I am also treasuring the answer given by one of the brothers.
I’ve been thinking about the matter of time recently. And distractions. Because I read this article over on CopyBlogger which talked a little about how there are so many things on the internet that can distract us from the main point (this is all in the context of content marketing). And how we as internet users are becoming so used to browsing and skimming websites for the information we want, that our attention span is decreasing.
Oh no, is that me?
I had such a great time at the Young People’s meeting tonight. I’m so glad I went! And because the clocks go back tonight, I have an extra hour of time and can make this post :)
It’s great when everyone speaks!
We had a really sweet time: eating together, singing together, pray-reading together, reading together, and then speaking together! I really enjoyed all the speaking from the saints after our reading time, and it is so good that we have been getting into this topic on Drinking and Flowing for the past few weeks. Every Saturday night, I receive a fresh reminder that I need to both drink and flow!
Hello everyone! How terrible that my first post of the month is on the 17th! If you have been looking for other good blogs to visit in between my sporadic posts, then here are a sampling of some I try to keep up with:
- Holding to Truth in Love, and the most recent post which ended up matching part of the YP meeting we just had: How to Have Faith? Receiving the Spirit and Supplying the Spirit by the Hearing of Faith
- Joseph Bang’s Recounts, which are fascinating, especially because I realised I know his sister! And he also wrote a great post recently about what it is to be a serving one.
- Wordless Photography, K’s new site – beautiful photos!
And now, on with my own post…
Serving in the heavenly team
So, this time last week, we were on the road back from Kasteel de Berckt in Baarlo, The Netherlands, after serving for a week at the ITERO (International Training for Elders and Responsible Ones). This was my first time serving at an LSM (Living Stream Ministry) event, and also my first time serving with transportation, so I thought I’d tell you a little bit about it! I really enjoyed serving with our little “transportation team”, and with the other saints there also. We were all learning together!
